Q: When do you open birth chart reading slots?

A: Birth chart reading slots open the first week of every month (the day and time varies), for only the month ahead.

For example, for August readings, I release slots during the first week of August. When you open my calendar, it will show that September, October, November, and December have no open slots. This does not mean that I won’t schedule any readings for the rest of the year—it just means those sessions are not yet released.

Q: You book out so quickly. Can you notify us which date and time you will open readings?

A: The exact date fluctuates each month. Moon Guidance members receive insight into the specific date and time the week beforehand. It’s one of the perks of joining the membership actually!

Q: What is a birth chart reading with you like?

A: After a brief introduction, we dive right in together—and cover a lot of ground. I do most of the talking, so you can sit back, relax, and absorb. I do ask questions here and there. I especially appreciate sessions during which clients chime in to affirm or clarify information. Each reading feels like a story, slowly unraveling, as we discover your you-niverse. Although topics can range from playful and passionate to serious and somber, material is delivered lightly.

When I calculate your birth chart, I usually sense the tone and energy of our session even before we’ve met. For example, if I notice you have a Pisces Mercury, I naturally loosen my own reading structure to embrace our conversation’s flowing nature. All that is to say, don’t worry: just be you during the session.

Q: I can never book a reading during your available times. Any advice?

A: I am currently based in Chicago, with slots ranging from 11am-5:30pm CDT. This usually allows me to meet people in different time zones.

If your work schedule or time zone prevents you from meeting during available times, feel free to email me to discuss (a) a remote, recorded birth chart reading or (b) to find a time that works for both of us.

Q: Your calendar is full. Can I join a waitlist?

A: I don’t currently offer waitlists for birth chart readings but will explore this feature *very soon.*

Q: Are birth chart reading sessions recorded?

A: Your birth chart reading is a video call conducted over Zoom. I always enable clients to record their sessions for playback in the days and months after.

Q: How do I reschedule a reading for a different day/time?

A: When you originally booked your session, you received a confirmation email. You can find the reschedule link at the bottom of this confirmation email. If no available slots exist, please email me at least 24 hours before your scheduled reading, so I can accommodate you and open your original slot to a new client.

Q: Can I cancel/refund a birth chart reading I booked?

A: Yes, you can cancel a birth chart reading at least 48 hours before your scheduled meeting. I will refund you the net total I received after PayPal fees. This is usually $5-10 less than you paid.

Q: Do you send calendar reminders for your readings?

A: Yes! When you book a reading, an event invite is automatically sent to your email with a private Zoom link, along with a confirmation email. You’ll receive a reminder email 24 hours before your session, as well as an SMS text reminder the day-of. It’s pretty foolproof: I’ve only ever experienced two no-shows.

Q: Do you practice tropical or sidereal astrology?

A: I practice tropical astrology. You can read about the difference between tropical astrology and sidereal astrology in my Astro Glossary.

Q: What house system do you use?

A: I use the Whole Sign house system, which evenly divides the 12 houses. Many birth chart calculators default to the Placidus house. You can update the default settings to Whole Sign, or use astrologer Chani Nicholas’ Whole Sign birth chart calculator. There is no “right” system. A good astrologer can interpret the cosmos for you using either system, and both systems add layers of insight to self-understanding.

Q: How do you set your pricing?

Q: Do you offer payment plans?

A: At the moment, I don’t offer payment plans.

Q: Why are you tracking the moon, and not the sun?

A: In astrology, the moon represents your inner, emotional world. Your moon sign reflects your innermost thoughts and emotional processing style, and the moon's movements reveal energetic ebbs and flows. The moon affects us on a deeply personal level.

The sun and moon are the two most important celestial bodies to track in astrology. The sun changes zodiac signs every few weeks, and the moon changes signs every few days. While you might read general horoscopes for a zodiac season, for example, you can learn more about your day-to-day energy shifts by tracking the moon.

After all, the moon’s face is reflecting light from the sun. Both luminaries are essential, which is why I provide sun sign horoscopes on Instagram and detailed moonscope horoscopes (or “moonscopes”) over email.

Q: Are the moonscopes tailored to my birth chart?

A: Everyone receives the same moonscopes every week. For important lunar events (such as a new moon, full moon, first quarter moon, or final quarter moon), you receive personalized horoscopes for your rising sign. You also receive personalized horoscopes for notable planetary transits, such as when Venus or Mars enter a new sign, and how this interacts with your birth chart. I highly recommend using the downloadable calendar feature. You can download moonscope calendars to sync with your iCal, Outlook, or Gmail calendar. When you do this, the calendar automatically updates to your time zone, and you can easily track where the moon is each day.

Q: Why do you use the Whole Sign house system?

A: The Whole Sign house system creates visually consistent, standardized zodiac wheels. This simple but powerful system supports not just natal birth chart readings but predictive astrology, too. Every Rising sign shares the same house rulerships. (For example, Scorpio Rising has a Taurus-ruled 7th house and Leo-ruled 10th house).

I have read my chart using both Placidus and Whole Sign houses—and appreciated both interpretations. Each unearths a new level of self-understanding. Ultimately, though, Whole Sign houses supports predictive astrology.

Q: Why do we read horoscopes for our Rising signs?

A: Your Rising sign set ups the rest of your birth chart. When viewing a zodiac wheel, your chart is broken into 12 segments, each representing an area of life. Each segment is ruled by a zodiac sign. When planets move through the zodiac signs, they cycle through our houses.

Q: How did you study astrology so thoroughly that you pick up on small details?

My own astrology journey began not with an in-person birth chart reading but with curiously cherry-picked information from a range of blogs and books. Then, firsthand observations skyrocketed my practice to the next level (that, and lots of repetition and research). From casual social encounters to formal birth chart readings, I came to discover that astrology is not divination but observation—built upon observations collected over thousands of years.

Astrology is learned through experience. You must study astrology, and then you must look at the world through its lens. Astrology is pattern recognition.
